Ex-Somali Islamist financier arrives in Djibouti for peace talks

Businessman Haji Abukar Umar Adani, who was an ardent [financial] backer of the Union of Islamic Courts when the group was ruling the country, has arrived in Djibouti.

Businessman Haji Abukar, who arrived in Djibouti the previous night, held talks with Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh and Shaykh Sharif [Shaykh Ahmad], the chairman of the Alliance for Re-Liberation of Somalia [ARS]Reports say that the businessman will meet with members of the [UN] Security Council and Somali delegates attending the [reconciliation] talks in Djibouti.
He has not yet stated his personal views on the talks taking place in Djibouti. He strongly supports the ARS, particularly the faction of Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmad.
