Al-Shabab Admits Having Foreigners in Its Ranks

The Al-Shabab movement which is locked in combat with government and Ethiopian troops has for the first time admitted having foreign fighters in its ranks.
The spokesman for Al-Shabab, Shaykh Mukhtar Robow Abu Mansur, has confirmed that there were foreigners fighting alongside them, saying that they were Moslems angered by the enemy invasion of Somalia.
The spokesman's remarks come at a time when the government is claiming to have captured foreigners from Pakistan and Iraq during yesterday evening's clashes in the area between Leego and Yaaq Bari Weyne in Lower Shabeelle Region.
The commander of the soldiers attacked by Al-Shabab yesterday, Col Dahir Muhammad Hirsi, says his troops killed one Iraqi and one Pakistani and captured another Iraqi and Pakistani.[Passage omitted].
