Central Region Army Commander Assassinated in Galkayo


The Somali army's commander in the central regions, Abdullahi "Afgub" Ardaf, was killed in the town of Galkayo last night, sources tell Garowe Online.Three men armed with pistols shot and killed the army commander at around 7:40pm local time Monday, with residents in south Galkayo confirming that the killers escaped.Police forces in north Galkayo, which is controlled by the Puntland regional authority, have been placed on high alert and the town's nighttime curfew is being "strictly enforced," according to locals.Galkayo has been the scene of numerous attacks in recent weeks, including deadly shootings and explosions targeting well-known community elders and businessmen.al shabaab Terrorist insurgents have killed many Somali government officials
