Somalia is full of miracles but where are the stories?

Nature and indeed life have their miracles. How else would you explain the fact that Somalia sent a delegation to the just concluded Beijing Olympic Games? If you live outside Somalia and you follow the news, this is not possible at all. Or at least, this is what the pessimists would make us believe. But two athletes and officials attended the Games and caused the Somalia flag to fly with all those of other nations. My attention was caught by the athletes Samira (Samia) Yusuf Omar and Abdi Said Ibrahim. They participated in the 200m and 5000m events for women and men respectively. They returned to their motherland unnoticed on Tuesday,August 26. Samira is a young woman (17 years) while Abdi is a young man (18 years).Although they did not win any medals, just like so many other participants from other countries, they provided inspiration and admiration to many of us who learnt of their story. Theirs was a story of dignity, pride and courage. They may have for a moment united Somalia as a country. more. http://www.monitor.co.ug/artman/publish/opinions/Somalia_is_full_of_miracles_but_where_are_the_stories_71166.shtml
