Ethiopia says Kenya suspects were caught in Somalia

ADDIS ABABA, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Ethiopia denied on Tuesday that eight Kenyans who were flown home at the weekend had been arrested in Kenya early last year as suspected Somali Islamists, saying they had been captured during fighting in Somalia.
Rights activists and Muslim groups accuse Kenyan authorities of covertly sending the eight men and scores of others to Mogadishu and Addis Ababa for interrogation.
The eight, who say they were tortured, have threatened to sue the Kenyan government for their rendition. Ethiopian Information Minister Berhan Hailu said the suspects were prisoners of war arrested inside Somalia, where Ethiopian forces are supporting a fragile interim government...morehttp://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L7033245.htm

Mortar exchanges between Shabaab and Somali forces in Mogadishu claimed 20 killed and 35 wounded. Gedo (jubaland state of somalia ) vowed to expel the Islamic Courts from the region. Shabaab took a cut of the ransom money paid for a Spanish ship. Sheikh Sharif Ahmed said the Islamic Courts has not yet implemented the ceasefire.

Unknown aircraft bombed
an Islamic COurts stronghold in the town of Goofgaduud. Shabaab may lift the Mogadishu airport flight ban. NATO will send warships to protect shipping from Somali pirates. The Kenyan Army will train up to 10,000 Somali troops.
