CIA director: Bin Laden alive


WASHINGTON – Osama bin Laden is isolated from the day-to-day operations of al-Qaida, but the terrorist organization he built is spreading its influence in Africa and the Middle East, CIA Director Michael Hayden said Thursday.Al-Qaida remains the single greatest threat to the United States, Hayden said in a speech to the Atlantic Council. Government mobilizing army to retake seized towns

The Transitional Federal Government of Somalia has announced to launch measures to stop the spread of mostly Hawiye al-shabaab with Ogaden ONLF Terrorist in southern and central regions of Somalia, particularly Lower Shabelle, Bay and Bakol regions, saying it is sending its army to those regions to combat what it termed, the terrorist group. A senior government official who declined to be named has said that the government will not tolerate the occupation of the country by Islamists, adding that they will be pushed out immediately with the collaboration of Ethiopian forces.
He condemned the Terrorist seizure of Marka town (the provincial headquarters of Lower Shabelle Region). The central army command of Somalia is preparing its troops, heavy weapons and battle wagons to combat against the Islamists. The official has also stressed that it is the responsibility of the government to take urgent steps to confront the Islamists trying to capture the country.
