Senior Somali gov't official shot dead in south Somalia



MOGADISHU, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Gunmen in the southern Somali town of Baidoa, the base of the transitional Somali parliament have shot dead a senior Somali government official, local media reports said Sunday.
Hussein Runow Sheik, second deputy Governor of the southern Bayregion, was killed by three men armed with pistols, as the Governor was on his way back to his home in Baidoa, 245 km south west of Mogadishu, the local Shabelle radio reported. more..http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2008-11/10/content_10335995.htm

NAIROBI (AFP) — Suspected Somali bandits abducted two Catholic nuns in northern Kenya, near the border with war-torn Somalia, the Kenya Red Cross Society said on Monday.
The armed men attacked the town of Elwak in the country's northern Mandera district early on Monday and also stole two vehicles.
