Mogadishu, Somalia - Reports we have received from the city of Baidao say that forces loyal to Al-Shabab have taken control of the interim Parliament and other Transitional Federal Government (TFG) buildings in the city of Baidoa. The reports also say that Al-Shabab forces stopped looting after they arrived at the ADC centre which houses the interim Parliament and before moving towards other government buildings. The reports add that Al-Shabab forces seized control of the city’s airport after Ethiopian troops vacated it this morning. Moreover, the reports say that currently there is an exchange of fire between forces loyal to the TFG and local militia on one side and Al-Shabab forces on the other side. The situation in the city is tense and residents are worried that the fighting will intensify and lead to heavy civilian casualties as well as damage to properties.
