Ethiopian troops to leave from Baidoa

BAIDOA -Sources from Baidoa say Ethiopian troops are preparing to withdraw from Baidoa, the seat of the transitional parliament, the sources said on Sunday. The Ethiopian troops completely departed from Mogadishu on 15 January 2009, but pulled back to Baidoa.Residents say the Ethiopian troops vacated Hassay factory building, a main base for the soldiers in the town and pulled to the airport, the only remaining base of the Ethiopians in Baidoa.The Ethiopian troops have been protecting the Somali, weak transitional government in Mogadishu and Baidoa for two years, but now the Somali parliamentarians were moved to Djibouti where efforts to elect a new president is ongoing after Somali president Abdulahi Yusuf resigned on 29 December 2008.
