Families of hijacked ship crew rejoice after safe return

The return of freighter Yasa Neslihan's crew following a hijacking that lasted 70 days has been celebrated by the crew's families. The Yasa Neslihan sailed back to Turkey on Thursday, allowing the 20 crewmembers to finally rejoin their families.
Mehmet Suat Büyükcivelek (49), a crewmember, celebrated with his family, hugging his six children: Rabia Nur (10), Sare Nur (9), twins Ali and Semih (7), Nisa Nur (7) and Yunus Emre (5).
The Yasa Neslihan was hijacked by Somali pirates on Oct. 29, 2008, in the Gulf of Aden, off the coast of Somalia, while transporting 77,000 tons of iron from Canada to China. The pirates freed the ship after being paid a ransom on Jan. 6. Working on the deck of the ship, Büyükcivelek said they were under constant psychological pressure during the time they were held captive. Stating that the pirates attacked their ship on Oct. 29 at around 1:30 a.m. with four or five boats, Büyükcivelek said: "They are used to doing this. It is not hard for them to climb aboard a ship. They always shoot their guns before and after getting onto a ship."more..http://www.todayszaman.com/tz-web/detaylar.do?load=detay&link=164924
