Seyoum says Al Shabaab given field to roam due to failure of TFG to lead its well-organized military

/A, January 5, 2009 (Addis Ababa) - Foreign Minister Seyoum Mesfin has aired on what he said would be a possibility for sustainable peace in Somalia provided the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) gave better leadership to the now well-organized military and police forces of that country.
The foreign minister expressed the optimism in addition to reiteration of the readiness of Ethiopia to continue to support peace efforts in Somalia even after exit of the Ethiopian army there as he saw off a high level TFG delegation composed of the acting President Sheikh Adan Mohamed Madoobe and the Prime Minister Hassan Hussein Nur.
Seyoum told journalists at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport that Al Shabaab was undeservedly put on a pedestal owing to failure on the part of the TFG authorities to give coordinated leadership.
The TFG authorities might look forward to succeed with bringing about durable peace in their country only if they could keep on deliberations on ways of closing in on any possibility of a security vacuum at the time when the Ethiopian army fully withdraws, Seyoum said. more..http://ww.ena.gov.et/EnglishNews/2009/Jan/05Jan09/77317.htm
