FREED MV FAINA SHIP TO OFFLOAD TANKS IN KENYAN PORT

Assistant Defense Minister David Musila says the ship's cargo, comprising 33 refurbished Soviet era T-72 tanks and at least 14,000 rounds of ammunition, will be offloaded and dispatched by rail to the Kahawa Garrison in Nairobi. Speaking shortly after the vessel docked at Kilindini Harbour on Thursday, Musila said the weapons will be used by Kenya's tank battalions, and re-affirmed that the consignment belonged to the Kenyan military, contrary to allegations that the shipment was destined for Southern Sudan.
