Huge Explosion in Garowe..Blast kills an Ethiopian and injures two
Garowe, March 27 2009 — A huge explosion suddenly rocked the Somali town of Garowe on Friday evening killing at least one person and wounding many others. The explosion which rocked the town targeted one of the restaurants where people come to eat food during the nigh hours. Local reporters from the town reported that the police commander of Puntland said in a press conference that the explosion was a grenade that went off by accident from the deceased man. However, other reports suggest that the grenade was thrown by unknown person who managed to escape from the scene. Others say that the restaurant belongs to an Ethiopian man and there is a possibility that members of Islamist groups were behind the attack. Sources close to Puntland state police ..that one suspect was arrested who is also turned to be an Ethiopian after the police took him to the police station.Such explosions are becoming common in the Somalia’s region of Puntland since the last few months. A couple of weeks ago, the coastal city of Bosaso witnessed series of explosions where more than 20 people killed and others wounded. It is not clear who is behind the attacks but the police say they are investigating the incidents...An Ethiopian has been killed and two other Ethiopians have injured in an explosion that occurred in Garowe town, the capital city of Puntland administration in north Somalia, witnesses said on Saturday.The blast occurred in Garowe at about 7:00 pm local time in Garowe and targeted Ethiopian businessman in the city. Separately, a second blast targeted PIS Puntland Intelligence Service station in the port town of Bosasso in Putntland...the attacks came days after Puntland police arrested a famous cleric in Boasso who is suspected to have links with al-ShababTerrorist .
