A member of Somalia parliament has been shot dead in the capital on Wednesday

Member of Somalia parliament has been shot dead in the capital on Wednesday by al shabaab gunmen, witnesses and officials said.

pm Abdulahi Isse Abtidon has been assassinated this afternoon in Huriwa district in north of Mogadishu where it is controlled by the jehadistIslamic groups.The deputy speaker of the parliament Osman Elmi Boqore has confirmed the killing to the local media.

Witnesses said the men armed with pistols carried out the killing of the MP and the killers escaped with a car,escaped unharmed.hawiye wing al-shabaab group has claimed the responsibility of the latest killing.

This comes two weeks after a Somali lawmaker was seriously injured by three armed men at his residence in Shibis district north of Mogadish e deceased lawmaker was from the bloc of the Somali president Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed and he became Member of Parliament when the legislature was enlarged in December, 2008.

The enlarged parliament elected president Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed in December last year in neighboring Djibouti.

He is the first MP killed in Mogadishu. Two MPs were injured in Mogadishu since the parliament relocated to the capital Mogadishu.
