Missouri Rep. Ike Skelton renews call for international action against Somali pirates


WASHINGTON (AP) — House Armed Services Chairman Ike Skelton has renewed his call for the U.S. and the international community to develop a permanent solution to the piracy off the coast of Somalia.The Missouri Democrat made his comments Wednesday on the House floor while supporting a resolution commending the Navy for its role in rescuing the kidnapped captain of the hijacked Maersk Alabama.He said the pirates "will only retreat as far as they are pushed."He called for international partners to establish a single set of rules of engagement and for authorities to address the pirates.
