PA -Victoria (Seychelles) A second ship of the Seychelles fleet, the ‘Indian Ocean Explorer’ with seven Seychellois crew on board, has been hijacked by Somali pirates, APA learns in the Seychellois capital Victoria on Thursday.According to the declaration of the Minister for Environment, Natural Resources and Transport Joel Morgan on Thursday, the ship was on its way from the island of Assumption to the main island of Mahe when it was seized. He added that according to information received, the ship which left Assumption on Friday last was heading for Somalia with the pirates on board.Minister Morgan added that ten tourists had already disembarked on Assumption before the hijack took place.The minister added that the government will do its best to have the crew of the ‘Indian Ocean Explorer’ and the crew of the ‘Serenity’, which was also recently captured by Somali pirates, released.Also Morgan declared that the Seychelles government has instructed its permanent representative to the UN, Ronny Jumeau to fast-track a resolution to see that Seychelles was given the necessary help.The minister indicated that President James Michel was writing to all heads of governments represented at the UN Security Council to ensure that the country gets help. He added that the government was contacting all the countries that have naval and military forces in the region to ask them to try to intercept the pirates.
