Fresh fighting continues in Mahaday hawiye (abgaal )town.Battles in Middle Shabelle Region Leave 8 Dead

fresh fighting between forces loyal to mostly habar-gidir (hawiye )shabaab and pro government Islamic Courts Union is continuing in El-baraf village in Mahaday town in Middle Shabelle region, witnesses told mogadishu radio on Sunday.Reports from the village where the fighting is currently going on say that the war started early on Sunday morning after the pro government Islamic courts forces attacked Shabaab al-Mujahideen: Terrorist in the El-baraf village in the Middle Shabelle region.Residents said that the sound of heavy gun battle could be heard all the areas of the village as both sides are exchanging heavy weapons in the fighting.Locals said that there are casualties of deaths and injures, but added that it was too difficult to confirm the figure due to the clashes. The is no comment about the fighting from both the warring sides and the clashes follow several other confrontations between the two sides which continued in parts of Middle Shabelle region recently. Jowhar — At least three people were killed and three others wounded when clan militias attacked militias of a rival clan in Adale district, local sources reported.
Militias of the warring clans have targeted each other over the past two weeks, with some sources saying eight people have been killed in revenge attacks during this period.
"Today's fighting was heavy...some nomadic families fled the area," said witness Abdulle, who lives in Adale district.
Separately, fighting between Al Shabaab insurgents and the pro-government Islamic Courts Union militia in Middle Shabelle region left at least five people dead last Thursday.
The fighting took place in Mahaday district, where ICU remnants have staged sporadic attacks on Al Shabaab insurgents who took control of the region last month.
