government soldiers have sized Galbed police station in Darkeynley district in south Mogadishu, officials and witnesses said on Tuesday. Witnesses said six combatants and four civilians have been killed in the fighting so far and more than fifty people have been wounded in the clashes.
After heavy fighting, that has been continuing in the district for hours, the government soldiers managed to capture the police station from the rebels. Mogadishu deputy governor, Abdifitah Ibrahim Shaweye, said they have crushed the rebels and were chasing their remnants.
More civilians have fled from Medina district in Mogadishu and went to the outskirts of the city where thousands of civilians have fleeing in recent days. There is no word from the Islamist rebels fighting against the government. The seizure of Galbed police station comes as government soldiers have recaptured Yaqshid police station in north Mogadishu from the Islamist rebels on Tuesday morning.

Security minister with more troops reaches in central town

with more government soldiers trained in Ethiopia has reached in Beledweyne in Hiraan region in central Somalia, witnesses and officials said on Tuesday. Colonel Omar Hashi Aden, the security minister of the Somali government has been in Ethiopia for the last two weeks amassing troops there. A government official traveling with the minister, who refused to be named, because he was not authorized to speak to media told Mareeg that they were heading to the towns that the rebels control. The pro government Islamists in Beledweyne welcomed Mr. Aden and his delegation in the town.The move comes as there has been a campaign against the rebels in the Somali towns bordering with Ethiopia. Sources said that more government soldiers led by Colonel Barre Aden Shire are heading to lower Jubba region controlled by al Shabaab and Hisbul Islam rebels.
