Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe has directed that flags fly at half-staff today to honor Private William Long, a new soldier who was fatally shot outside an Army-Navy recruiting center last week. Long's funeral is today.
Meanwhile more details are emerging about the Muslim convert accused in the killing. Defendant Abdul-hakim Muhammad was in a Little Rock courtroom Friday morning to have a defense attorney formally appointed to his case. Muhammad, who was previously known as Carlos Bledsoe, has pleaded not guilty to capital murder.
