Kenyan military ordered to deal with Somali militant groups
Kenyan armed forces have been put on high alert to deal with threats from armed militia groups which are threatening peace in the country, the clearest signal so far that Kenya is ready to fight Somalia’s Al Shabaab militia group.President Mwai Kibaki said on Monday, during celebrations to mark the country’s 46th anniversary of internal self-rule, that the military had been instructed to deal firmly with threats to Kenya’s security from any quarters, either internally or externally.“I am concerned about the threats that are posed by criminal gangs, vigilante groups.
