Pro-government Forces Claim Victory
BELED WEYNE (TF.SF) - Conflicting reports are coming out of the city of Jalalaqsi which is a strategic city located in Hiiraan Region. Islamic Court Union (ICU) forces who are allied with Somalia’s Transitional Government (TFG) claim to have peacefully take control of the city of Jalalaqsi.According to a spokesman for the UIC who contacted media outlets said that pro-government forces are have now control of the city without fighting. The city was under the control of Hisbul Islam lately. The spokesman added that representatives of the UIC courts recently have been engaged in calming tensions between two clans who settle in parts of Hiiraan and Middle Shabeele regions and now they have returned to Jalalaqsi. On the other hand, a spokesman for Hisbul Islam denied the claims of pro-government forces and added that the city is still under the control of Hisbul Islam forces.Aside from the conflicting claims from the two sides, there not any independent source indicating which group controls the city. It is noteworthy that a delegation led by the TFG’s Minister of National Security Mr. Omar Hashi Aadan is still in the city of Beledweyne which is the capital of Hiiraan region. The Minister in the past promised that all parts of the region controlled by anti-government forces will be returned to the control of the TFG.
