Islamist rebels defects to somali government

BELEDWYNE somalia (TF.SF ) Fifty five fighters of Islamist rebels defected from Hizbul Islam group and joined the government soldiers in Beledweyne, the regional capital of Hiraan region, officials said on Friday. General Muqtar Hussien Afrah, who addressed in ceremony in Beledwyne welcoming the defected fighters, said 55 fighters and 3 officers joined the government soldiers today.
Clan elders and lawmakers attended in the ceremony which took place in Beledweyne on Friday. Ahmed Omar Ahmed, one of the defected officers has also addressed in the ceremony said they decided to join the Somali government soldiers in Beledweyne. It is the second time that Islamists from Hizbul Islam join the government soldiers. Islamist Fighters with two battle wagons who defected from Hizbul Islam rebel group joined the government in Mogadishu on Wednesday.The City Was Liberated from Islamic jihadists on 26 July 2009
