At least 13 youths from Oslo are to have been recruited by tre islamist Al-Shabab movement in Somalia. Two of them, who are Norwegian citizens, are said to have been arrested.
Labor politician Elvis Nwosu tells TV2 of how he last week met with Somali leaders in Oslo who were concerned that youths with a Somali background are recruited by Al-Shabab sympathizers.
American police have previously disclosed that Al Shabab has recruited Somali youths in the USA. At least one American citizen with a Somali background has been killed in the wartorn country.Nwosu was told that at least 13 youths have left Norway in order to fight with Al-Shabab in Somalia. The Somalian leaders have forwarded their information to tre Norwegian police.The two of them who have been arrested in Mogadishu are in their twenties, and both are Norwegian citizens.The Foreign Department says they have no knowledge of tre case, and tre Police Saftey Service will not comment upon it. The case has caused serious concern among Norwegian Somalians.
