Officials in lawless northern Somalia traded accusations on Thursday a day after masked gunmen massacred seven Pakistani preachers at a mosque.The sheikhs were killed in Galkayo, a town on the southern edge of the semi-autonomous northern Puntland region. Somalia mosque victims belonged to Southern Punjab
The victims of Islamic preaching mission, “Tableeghi Jama’at,” who were gunned down by six gunmen in Tawfiq Mosque in Galkayo (Somalia), belonged to southern Punjab. Dera Ghazi Khan Tableeghi Jama’at Amir Khadim Hussain said on Thursday that eight people from Dera Ghazi Khan division, left for Mogadishu (Somalia) on preaching mission on August 10 from Karachi.
They were joined by 17 locals. Later, the 25-member team, including eight Pakistanis, started its mission in the remote areas of Somalia. According to him, when they were busy in Tableegh after Fajr prayers in a mosque of Galkayo (Somalia), they were attacked by six gunmen.
