Kenya has released a man allegedly linked to a terrorist plot against Hillary Clinton and returned him to Denmark
A Dane suspected of being involved in a plot to bomb the hotel of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been returned to Denmark from Kenya, according to Kenyan newspaper The Standard.The plot against Clinton, who visited Nairobi in August, was revealed by another newspaper, The Nation, which said one of the five suspects arrested in the case was a Dane of Somali origin.The group reportedly planned a terrorist attack against two Nairobi hotels and a bus station and while Clinton was visiting Kenya in August.
The Foreign Ministry told Politiken newspaper that a Danish citizen had been arrested in Kenya and released, but could not confirm if it was the same person arrested in connection with the terror plot.Charlotte Slente, a ministry spokeswoman, was also unable to confirm if the citizen had been returned to Denmark.Sources close to the Kenyan anti-terror police told the newspaper that ‘they had nothing on him, so he was sent to his homeland,’ and said that the suspect was put on a flight direct to Copenhagen.
