MOGADISHU (TF.SF) —Somalia’s government has welcomed the killing of top al- Qaeda fighter in Somalia on Tuesday. Dahir Mohamud Gelle, the information Minister of the Somali government said intelligence sources confirmed to his government that Nabhan was killed in Somalia on Monday. “The government welcomes the killing of that man because he was doing acts against the Somali people in the country,” Gelle said.
Sheik Abdirasak Qaylow, a spokesman for the government has described his killing as success.
U.S. Special Forces killed Saleh Nabhan in southern Somalia on Monday and took his body with four other fighters. A spokesman for Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a has also praised the killing of Nabhan. Nabhan, 30, was born in Kenya and had been tied to attacks that included the 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
