TALABAN MINISTER OF TREASURY IN SOMALIA SHOULD EITHER RESIGN OR GET SACKED

Kanini Evans Kariuki
This morning, the minister who is presently in London, had an interview with the Al-Jazeera TV English channel, in which his interviewer demanded to know the size of the region the Somali government controls in the increasingly chaotic nation. Before the minister´s response to the question, the interviewer outlined the background of the current situation in Somalia which indicates that the government only controls negligible pockets of Mogadishu– the capital city, and whereby the African forces are protecting these areas which without them, Mogadishu would have long fallen to then allied Al-Shabaab and Hisbul–Islam forces. The minister, in his reply, confirmed the statement of the background of the current state of affairs, and blamed the International community for not supporting the government. In his statement, he claimed that the government had gained control of Kismayu and the central region of Hiran. What a farce, misinformation and disinformation? The whole world knows that this is a white lie!It is public knowledge that Hisbul-Islam controls Hiran, while Kismayu- the second most vital sea port in Somalia, is now being controlled by the Al-Shabaab who seized it yesterday after overpowering and outpacing the Hisbul-Islam forces! The minister did not state that Punt land is within the fold of the Transitional Federal Government (TFG).This indicates that President Shariff´s regime is only interested in the control and consolidation of power in Mogadishu- Somalia´s capital city.In the course of the catchy interview in the Al-Jazeera television channel, the minister asserted : "the government has the legitimacy of the international community!"But the interviewer asked him:"will the international legitimacy give you the power to control Somalia when you obviously lack the support of the Somali nation and control of the land?" more..http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/view/122098
