Moderate Islamists to defeat al Shabaab

MOGADISHU (TF.SF)—Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a Moderate Islamist group vowed Thursday they will defeat al Shabaab and will drive them out of Galgadud region in central Somalia.


Sheikh Abdullahi Sheikh Abdirahman Abu Yusuf, the spokesman of Ahlu Sunna Walajam’a says their fighters defeated the Shabaab in battles in towns in central Somalia and will continue to chase them until they clear from the region, He claimed victory over a fighting that took place in two towns in Galgadud region on Wednesday saying that they have killed more fighters from their rival group.At least 16 combatants from the two sides were killed in the fighting on Wednesday. More than 200 civilians were displaced in the fighting in Galgadud region.Ahlu Sunna Walajama’a adherents took up arms and started to fight against al Shabaab in central Somalia early 2008 and since then they liberated al Shabaab from many towns in central Somalia including Dhusamreb, the provincial capital of Galgadud region.
