UN delegation visits Mogadishu

Delegation from the United Nations has visited Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Thursday and leader of the Somali government, an official say. The delegation comprised eleven officials led by Charles Petrie, the UN's Deputy Special Representative for Somalia met president Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and prime minister, Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke in the presidential palace.Abdi Haji Gobdon, an advisor to Prime Minister, Omar Abdirashid Sharmarke told reporters that the meeting between the UN delegation and the leaders of the Somali government was discussed cooperation between the Somali government and the United Nations. Charles Petri said he has visited Mogadishu for several times before and that was a sign that UN officials could visit Mogadishu and meet the leaders of the country. The officials from United Nations flew from Nairobi to Mogadishu. The office of United Nations for Somalia is temporally based in Nairobi.
