Judge Issues Recommendation In Somali Man's Trial
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ―Update A federal magistrate is recommending that evidence from a Nevada traffic stop be kept in the trial of a Minnesota man accused of lying to the FBI.Agents have been investigating Somali men who left Minnesota to possibly fight with terrorists.Abdow M. Abdow was in a car stopped by the Nevada Highway Patrol on Oct. 6, about 10 miles north of Las Vegas. He was riding with four other men, including one on an FBI watch list.Authorities allege the 26-year-old Abdow lied when asked about the trip. His attorney wanted evidence from that traffic stop kept out, saying there was no legal basis for it.But U.S. Magistrate Judge Susan Richard Nelson says Monday that two troopers were credible when they testified they stopped the car for speeding, and there was a valid reason for the stop.
