Al-Qaeda suspect kills Yemeni guard in escape attempt

An al-Qaeda suspect killed a policeman and seriously wounded another on Sunday in an attempt to escape from a hospital in the capital Sana'a where he was being treated for injury.
Security authorities said an al-Qaeda suspect of foreign nationality seized a guard's gun during lunch time and shot him dead and injured another one. The security forces rushed to the hospital and could subdue the armed man in a room and recapture him after a gun fire for a while. Eyewitnesses said police used tear gas and stormed the room where the suspect hided.Official 26sep.net said a security source as saying that the suspect, identified as Shareef Mubaili, is German of Somali origin.
The failed escape comes three days after the security authorities said they raided al-Qaeda members in Sawad Hanash area in Sana'a and arrested 11 and killed one. via
