We, members of the Sool,Sanaag, and Cayn community living in the USA, Europe and Pacific strongly condemn the recent massacre of innocent Dhulbahante people by Ethiopian EPRDF soldiers and their militia alliance of Isaaq tribes(so called Somaliland) in Buuhoodle town of SCC regions of Somalia.
The despicable act of aggression by Ethiopian Government soldiers and their Somali tribal militiamen (Isaaqs) against SSC people along the border should be condemned by all. This abhorrent human rights violation of enormous magnitude should stop now. One would wonder why soldiers of the neighbouring country (Ethiopia) helping Isaaq Tribal militiamen simply cross the border, kill people of Dhulbahante Tribe in SSC regions and leave just the way they came and continue doing the massacre day after day. Why is international abetting these heinous crimes?
The people of SSC regions of Somalia along have been victims of widespread harassment, murder, rape, torture, and detentions without trial and unexplained disappearances at the hands of Ethiopian government soldiers and their alliance Isaaq militiamen. The terror escalated as soon as the Warlords of Secessionist Tribes of Isaaq asked a help to Ethiopian regime of TPLF/EPRDF to take over the SSC Regions of Somalia. The Secessionist Tribal state of so called Somaliland getting a military supply from Ethiopian TPLF/EPRDF Soldiers has disrupted the peaceful conditions of SSC regions of Somalia.
The recent incident of killings SSC people by Ethiopian soldiers and their Somali tribal allies Militiamen has sparked some discussions to international communities. It’s clear that the Ethiopians are helping their secessionist Somali tribes to occupy SSC Regions of Somalia.
The SSC Diaspora was angry at the benign indifference of the International Community in the face of wanton killings of their tribesmen by military incursions from Ethiopia. These recurring incidents have convinced many SSC people in Diaspora that the Ethiopian army are after the elimination of Anti-Secessionist SSC people to balkanize Somalia. All these killings are not random act, they were calculated and planned out to achieve certain purpose. We are wondering why are the UN and international community turning deaf ears to all these murders.
Far from the eyes of the world, the forgotten people of SSC regions of Somalia are dying from Tribal violence, aggression of so called Somaliland Secessionist tribal banditry, and abuse by the Ethiopian army. Murders, abductions, torture, rape and the disappearance of citizens are common occurrences. Insecurity and humanitarian need in this part of Somalia have reached staggering proportions.
The above statement epitomizes the existing situations in SSC Regions of Somalia
We call upon the International community to intervene and stop these crimes before the world will witness another kind of ethnic cleansing. It is time to say no! In the word of John F. Kennedy:
"Every time a man stands up for an ideal or acts to improve the lot of others or strikes out against”
