Remember when Russia bravely sent soldiers to rescue a crew of its own from Somali pirates? Well now they are all dead, and the Russian military is all: “we set them adrift and the sea killed them. Off our radar!”
Some Russians find this a little disturbing, like Editor-in-chief of the Maritime Bulletin magazine Mikhail Voitenko: “If they did perish at sea, that would also be murder, just in a more sophisticated form,” he said, adding that fighting pirates off the Somali coast has become a kind of “safari” for the military, “with zero danger and the chance of rewards and glory.”
I think South Park finds it disturbing as well.
