Las Anod, Sool, Sanaag, and Cayn (SSC Regions of Somalia). Abdirahman Abdi, a correspondent for Universal TV London and other news outlets from the SSC Regions reports that absolutely no voting has taken place in the Sool, Sanaag, and Cayn regions of Somalia today June 26, 2010. Instead, multiple armed battles and demonstrations occurred in the area. So far, the confirmed deaths due to these fighting are 5 people among them four of the secessionist militias and the other person a member of the locals. In the battle that took place in Kalabaydh, the secessionist militia used heavy artillery and shelled the town in indiscriminatory manner, causing almost complete distruction of the town and total displacement of the local residents.

The battles took place in WidhWidh, Horufadhi, Balli-Hadha, XidhXidh, Dhumay, Kalabaydh, and Waqdari in the out skirts of the regional capital Las Anod. These bloody armed confrontations happened as a direct result of the attempts the secessionist Issak one clan secessionist project to bring laughable so called ballot boxes in the region to justify their secession from the rest of Somalia and illegally annex the territories of other major Somali clans – The Dhulbahante in SSC regions in the North of Somalia.

Furthermore, during the confrontations, the SSC armed forces has successfully confiscated the ballot boxes and took some of the secessionist militia as prisoners. On the other hand, the reports add that the rest of the militia has retreated to their Issak localities.
In the capital city Las Anod, the situation was not any different, as the Secessionist militia hid the so called ballot boxes in undisclosed locations for fear from the SSC forces, as well as the unionist residents were not willing to participate in the theoretical show of the secessionists. Credible information indicates that the secessionists plan to stuff these boxes themselves and claim the opposite. The reporter, Mr. Abdurahman Somali, says that in practical terms no votes were casted and no voting has taken place as the environment was explosive and the security situation was not condusive for such an exercise.

The correspondent sums up the situation in this way, “The unionist populations of Sool, Sanaag, and Cayn have spoken today June 26, 2010 (Independence Day) by expressing their democratic rights in a total boycott of the secessionist doomed project”.

Meanwhile, the secessionists has systematically jailed, tortured, and killed everyone opposed to secession from the rest of Somalia. They do not believe in democracy, media and freedom of speech. For example, hundreds of innocent unionist civilians are kept in jail for the reason of opposition to secession. Most recently, another Universal TV reporter in the region, Mohamed Shaqalle, was jailed by the secessionist militia and no one knows about his fate and whereabouts since the Issak militia snatched him from his home two weeks ago.

The formation of the SSC political administration and their military wing where the SSC populations rallied their support behind them adds up to the upset and frustration of the Issak secessionist militia that calls itself Somaliland.
