update .Somali border violence claims 10 lives... Ethiopians, Somalis Clash, Civilians Displaced

At least 10 people have been killed and 30 others wounded in clashes between Somali villagers and Ethiopian forces in Ethiopian-controlled Somali region of Ogadeni.


According to witnesses, the clashes broke out after Ethiopian troops attacked Jeed village of Shillaabo region in Ethiopia leading the residents to take up arms against the Ethiopian forces, a Press TV correspondent reported. The dead included Ethiopian soldiers, the witnesses report, adding that villagers started to flee from their houses in fear of more fighting between the two sides. "Dozens of Ethiopian special police forces launched onslaught on the village after three of their colleagues were killed," said a Somali elder, who added that, "armed youths retaliated the onslaught resulting in the death of 7 innocent civilians." Last month, 20 civilians were reportedly killed in clashes between villagers and Ethiopian forces in border village of El-Dibir, where residents clashed with the foreign troops. In a similar incident in May 12, residents of northwestern Somalia's self-declared republic of Somaliland were killed in a purported Ethiopian military incursion. Balanbal — Clashes between Ethiopian troops and young Somalis has broken out in parts of the Somali region under the control of Ethiopia on Tuesday morning, witnesses say.Reports say that the fighting started at Jeed village, between Balanbal and Lasanod village which is 70 kilometers to the west of Balanbal district of Galgudud region in central Somalia and controlled by Ethiopia.Sources said that fighting came as the more of the Ethiopian forces of the new police attacked Jeed village where there had been more young Somali people who had fought with the Ethiopian troops who were recently making military movement in the area.

The Ethiopian troops attacked at Jeed and opened fire to Somali civilians at Fadhigarale in the Somali region where they ha wounded three civilians whose injuries rushed to Balanbal district on Monday according to witnesses who said that they had fled from their houses as the clash started.It is unclear the reason of the Ethiopian troops' attack and the real casualties of the fighting.It was 9th of last month as the Ethiopian troops attacked Eldibir village where they had killed more than 20 Somalis, most of the elders of the region.
