5 Killed, 3 Wounded As Somali Islamists Clash in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, Somalia (AHN) - At least five people have been killed and about three others injured in Mogadishu after Al shabaab militants clashed with another Islamist insurgent group, Hizbul Islam Officials from both two sides said that recently an Al shabaab extremist group seized a bus stop in Bakara market. The location was where Hizbul Islam previously collected money from buses. The practice allegedly made insurgent group Hizbul Islam, which is led by Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys, angry and annoyed.
The clashes erupted in Bakara market, which is heavily populated. Hizbul islam fighters attacked Al shabaab’s court in the area, they added leaving two civilians dead.
Hiszbul Islam officials, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, said that Sheikh Mokhtar Rabow, an al shabaab official and Abdulkadir commandos from Hizbul Islam on Saturday engaged in mediation with militant fighters, however they broke down and failed.
A resident said the situation is unpredictable as every party is trying to dislodge the other.
