Ugandan troops make up the majority of the 5,000 African Union peacekeepers in Somalia
The Security Council unanimously agreed Wednesday to increase the peacekeeping force in Somalia by 50 percent, from 8,000 to 12,000 troops to bolster the weak Somali Transitional Federal Government (TFG).
The additional 4,000 soldiers will come from Uganda which has earlier contributed the bigger part of the peacekeeping forces in the country.
This move is expected to bring some calm to the war torn region but may at the same strengthen the insurgency who have pledged to forget their feud and join against the foreign forces in their country.
Somalis always unify against any foreign forces which was the case against the Ethiopians during the 2006 invasion of Somalia.
This is the known motto of Somali unity :
Me and my clan against the world; Me and my family against my clan; Me and my brother against my family; Me against my brother.
