Al shabaab seizes health official in central Somalia
Al shabaab fighters seized health official and took him into custody in Elbur district in Galgudud region of central Somalia, local residents confirmed on Tuesday. Mohammed Ahmed Dhuhulow, a health official at Mother and Children Health center (MCH), was captured after fighters of Al shabaab on Monday mid-night raided his home in El Meygaag village about 45 Km from Elbur district. Al shabaab group has accused the apprehended man of patrolling at the center of the district in late nights. After the arrest reports of health official, Elbur local elders started meetings with Al shabaab officials in an attempt to persuade them to free the man. But, all elders’ efforts ended in vain whene Al shabaab officials said they had several charges against him. The MCH is a center where pregnant Somali women and children get health care service. The center also provides nutrition supplements for the children suffering from malnutrition.
