Italian Foreign Minister Frattini's meeting with Somali Prime Minister confirmed

Foreign Minister Franco Frattini will receive the Somali Prime Minister, Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed, on 20 January 2011 as planned. The meeting will be an opportunity to address issues relating to the stabilisation of Somalia that were referred to by Mohammed in his interview in this morning's issue (14 January) of “La Stampa”.

Our political and economic commitment to pacification in Somalia is a priority in our foreign policy”, stated Minister Frattini. He underscored that “we have made, and will continue to make, every effort to promote stabilisation in Somalia. We have focused in recent years in training the Somali security forces, with a financial contribution totalling around 27 million euros. We have paid special attention to anti-terrorism operations and to combating piracy, as well as to supporting the Transitional Federal Government and its administration”
