World Leader and
Prime Minister of Somalia Mohamed A. Mohamed returns to Western New York today, Saturday Jan. 15,  after addressing the UN Security Council in New York City this week.
He will celebrate the birthday of slain Civil Rights Leader Dr. Martin Luther King with the area community at an event planned at Kleinhans Music Hall on Sunday January 16, 2011 at 5:45pm.
The Prime Minister will be accompanied by his wife Mrs. Zeinab Abdi Moalim, his senior advisor Abdirahman Omar Osman, deputy representative Idd Bedel Mohamed, and his brother Hassan Mohamed.
Mohamed, a Western New Yorker and resident of Grand Island, NY, was appointed Prime Minister of Somalia last fall by current  President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed.  His main objective is to bring peace and stability to a country that is threatened by Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda extremist organization that promotes  violence and oppression as the right way for the country.
His visit back to Western New York coincides with a celebration that marks the legacy of Dr. King.  For Prime Minister Mohamed, this confirms his own passion for civil rights and the activities he engaged in over the many years he lived in Western New York.  Mr. Mohammad is well known for having worked  for the betterment of the Somalian Community. He now continues this work as a world leader, trying to free his people from the reins of terror.
The annual celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King is being coordinated by Ms. Bessie Patterson, Chairperson . This Press Release sent by Casimiro Rodriguez: 716 912-3489
