Pirate ransom: 26 million kroner

The seven Danish hostages in Somalia are shattered after their four weeks in captivity at the hands of pirates, reports Ekstra Bladet newspaper.A journalist from the paper has met with the family in a tiny room on board a hijacked Greek cargo ship named ‘Dover’, where armed pirates are keeping another 20 hostages.According to the reporter, the pirates are demanding 26 million kroner in ransom for the hostages.
“The father looks tired. He seems ill,” the article stated. “One of the two deckhands looked shattered and demoralized, and he didn’t look up even once while I was there.”Only the father seems to talk to the pirates, he said. The others just sit back quietly looking sad during the conversations. The hostages have been moved from their own yacht to several villages before they were moved aboard the ‘Dover’.The family of five and their two deckhands were hijacked by Somali pirates on February 24 some 300 nautical miles off the coast of Somalia while on their round-the-world cruise. They received several warnings about the dangers of sailing near the Somali coast, but they continued into the pirate-ridden waters.
