Heartache: Al Shabaab's top 'official' admits more failures, defeat

An al Shabaab top official on Friday admitted that his group has suffered countless losses fighting with Somalia’s internationally recognized government. The admission comes as the Somali government started anti-militant operations and vowed it will decimate al Shabaab.
Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys, an al Shabaab official, said Somali troops and African Union peacekeepers are well equipped and trained and that facilitates them to defeat the hard-line group in Mogadishu’s recent battles.
Aweys mentioned most of their attacks are right now turned into guerrilla attacks or hit and run attacks as their fighters can’t tolerate the excessive and heavy bombardments Somali army backed by AMISOM forces use during combats.
