Somalia: 4 slain, 10 hurt as gunmen attack a mosque

MOGADISHU (tf.sf) – At least 4 people were killed at more that 10 others wounded after gunmen attacked a mosque in Galka’yo town, the regional capital of Mudug region in central Somalia.

It was evening when the attackers got into the mosque named Salahudin and started to opening fire at the people who came to the mosque for worship.

Some reports say that the assailants were outraged by today’s bomb blast in which the director of religious affairs ministry of Puntland, Sheikh Isma’il Hajji was slain.

The killers are reported to have run away from the crime scene immediately after the shootout.

In a related story, hundreds of people on Saturday afternoon took o streets of Galka’yo in protest of today’s bomb blast that killed an official from Puntland administration.

The assassination of this Puntland official came after he addressed at mosque in Galka’yo condemning vehemently the repeated explosions and planned killings against Puntland officials, well-known people and peace activists in Puntland.

Puntland officials have not yet commented on the attack the death of one of its administrators.

Insecurity has been rampant in Puntland towns, particularly Galka’yo in the last few weeks.
