CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

AMISOM wishes to convey its condolence to the government and the people of Somalia, and the entire Muslim community, following the sad news of the sudden and untimely death of our beloved, Imam Mohamud Imam Omar Ali.
He has been known over many years for spearheading unity and reconciliation amongst the Somalis. We shall always remember and miss him. We shall always be thankful to the Almighty Allah for such a kind-hearted friend and brother, who has lived such a fulfilling life. His departure is a big loss not only to his family, but to all the people of Somalia and all peace lovers in the world at large. He always stood by the cause of peace and was an ally of AMISOM in all the difficult times and was a source of encouragement in our quest for a peaceful Somalia.
May the Almighty Allah bless his soul and help those remaining to follow his example and complete the cause of peace and the creation of a better and prosperous Somalia, which he always cherished.

PRESS RELEASE – Museveni’s re-election and the Ugandan people’s choice!
Mogadishu, SOMALIA (14/05/2011) - The inauguration of Yoweri Museveni for a fourth term in office on the 12th May 2011 clearly highlights the Ugandan people’s allegiance to the projected vision of their leader. By electing Museveni’s National Resistance Movement (NRM) once again to govern their affairs and form their decisions, the people of Uganda have not only become unanimously complicit in the crimes of their soldiers here in Somalia, but have also confirmed their unwavering commitment to the invasion and oppression of the innocent civilians of Somalia.
But while Museveni’s inaugural speech focused largely on the economic and educational sectors, he failed to address the plight of the Ugandan soldiers in Mogadishu. And while the inauguration ceremony was in progress in Kololo, Mogadishu’s streets were being painted crimson red and overflowing with the blood of Ugandan soldiers and senior commanders from the Ugandan People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
Away from the limelight, Mogadishu has now become Uganda’s nightmare. And as the battle continues to rage in the capital, the number of Ugandan soldiers killed in the battle also continues to rise. Along with nearly a dozen of his soldiers, Cpl DRICH ALFRED of Plt II C COY, whose body is still in our custody, became that latest in a long list of Ugandan soldiers to pay for Museveni’s misguided adventures.
