Somali terrorists beware: Raven drones overhead Under a proposed $45 million U.S. counterterrorism assistance package

.
Under a proposed $45 million U.S. counterterrorism assistance package, the African Union peacekeeping forces of Uganda and Burundi would get four unarmed Raven drones for use in Somalia, reports Spencer Ackerman at Wired’s Danger Room blog.

The two nations are major contributors to peacekeeping efforts -- together they provide about 1,200 soldiers -- directed at containing the Somali terror group al-Shabaab.

The peacekeepers would likely use the hand-launched Raven to acquire their own intelligence as they try to track the movements of al-Shabaab’s forces throughout the Somali capital of Mogadishu.
