Somali Youth Day marked in all parts of Somalia

Somalia today marks the 69th anniversary of the birth of Somali Youth League (SYL) which was the first political party in Somalia.Established on May 15, 1943 by a group of 13 young Somali nationalists, the SYL played a key role in Somalia’s road to independence.The day was marked in several Somali cities including Mogadishu, Garowen abudwak,  Bosaso and Galkayo where colourful ceremonies were held.
It is a significant day in the history of the Somali people.Earlier this morning, Somalia’s national youth league chairman Abdullahi Mohamed Noor told  Terror Free Somalia that preparations to mark the day is now underway in several parts of the country.
The SYL was originally formed by the following Somali nationalists;

  5. Mohamed Osman Barbe
  6. Osman Gedi Rage

  9. Sayidin Hirsi Noor
  10. Mohamed Abdalla Hayesi
  11. Mohamed Ali Noor
  12. Ali Hasan Mohamed Verdura
  13. Dahir Hajji Osman
