Al Qaeda East Africa Al-Shabaab kills herdsman for “refusing” to pay Zakah (jihad tax!)

Al Qaeda East Africa Al-Shabaab militant group in southwest Somali region of Gedo has last night reportedly shot dead a herdsman for allegedly refusing to pay Zakah (jihad tax!)from his animals.

The incident occurred at Ara-ade area, some 30 kilometres from Beled-Hawo town the border with Kenya and Ethiopia, according relatives who spoke to TERROR FREE SOMALIA  on condition of anonymity in fear of reprisals.

Militants reportedly picked up the herdsman from his homestead in the area and later shot him dead.

The group is now conducting collections of what it calls jihad tax Zakats in the region forcing pastoralist communities in the region to flee from the area to avoid forced collection
