One of the defectors who spoke to the media was reportedly quoted as saying that they decided to leave Al-Shabaab.“I was in the ranks of alshabab for nine months and I fought in many battle fields” he said.Government officials in Hiiraan have on several occasions displayed alshabab defectors saying it will weaken the extremist group.
Officials in the administrative capital of Hiiraan region, Beledweyne say three men have surrendered to government forces after they deserted from the ranks of islamist militants.Displaying the defectors, the chief of Beledweyne police station Ali Dhuh Abdi addressed the media.
