Somalia: Allied Forces Take Wabho Town, UN's political bias cripples its aid to Somalia – Red Crescent

he Somali National Army (SNA) and African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) forces took control of Wabho town in Galgadud region Sunday (April 6th), Garowe Online reported.
"After fierce fighting, we dislodged al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab fighters from Wabho," said Deputy Governor of Galgadud region Abdihakim Abdullahi.
AMISOM and the SNA engaged with al-Shabaab in a two-day gun battle over the town, resulting in 30 militants reported killed.
Al-Shabaab spokesman Ali Mohamud Rage claimed that militant forces killed Somali and Ethiopian soldiers in the clashes.
The casualties on both sides could not be independently verified.
Abdullahi said business operations have returned to normal in Wabho, but he called on international humanitarian organisations to rapidly dispatch aid for area residents who are in great need of assistance, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.
