Famous Somali Vocalist Gunned Down in Mogadishu







Mogadishu,- A famous Somali singer Omar Noor Basharah was in the early hours of today gunned down at Via Roma in Hamarweyne district in the Somali capital Mogadishu.This singer is widely known in Somalia particular in Hamarweyne district where he was born and brought up. The singer has not gone out of the country in all this insecurity conditions for the past 18 years. The singer was a shining star in the Banadiri singers club, and was as well brilliant actor in the Banadiri dramas.The deceased Basharah was recently an active member in the activities of Banadir regional administration, the singer was also the head of the sanitation project in the Mogadishu funded by jointly conducted by IDA a local NGO and WFP. The motive behind the killing is believed to be his involvement in these governmental activities. He was gunned down by men armed with pistols. The body of the great singer was taken to Marwas mosque in Hamarweyne district where congregational prayers was performed on his corpse and later buried
